Selection Process for Bihar Police SI Prohibition
- Preliminary Written Exam: Objective type, 100 questions, 200 marks, 2 hours. Negative marking: 0.2 per wrong answer. Qualifying marks: 30%.
- Main Written Exam: Two papers – General Hindi (Qualifying, 100 marks) and General Studies (Merit-based, 100 questions, 200 marks).
- Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Race, High Jump, Long Jump, Shot Put.

Q1. What is the last date to apply for Bihar Police SI Prohibition 2026?
A1. The last date to apply online is 27 February 2026. The application fee must also be paid by this date.
Q2. What is the application fee for Bihar Police SI Prohibition recruitment?
A2. The application fee is ₹100 for all categories including General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, Females, and Third Gender candidates.
Q3. What is the age limit for General category male candidates?
A3. For General category male candidates, the age must be between 20 to 37 years as on 01 August 2025.
Q4. What is the educational qualification required?
A4. Candidates must possess a Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university. They must have passed the degree exam on or before 01 August 2025.
Q5. Is the Bihar domicile mandatory for this recruitment?
A5. Yes, candidates must be domiciles of Bihar to claim reservation benefits. Candidates from other states can apply but will be considered under the Unreserved (UR) category and must fulfill the UR age criteria.
Q6. What is the selection process?
A6. The selection involves three stages: 1) Preliminary Written Exam, 2) Main Written Exam, and 3) Physical Efficiency Test (PET). Document verification and medical examination will follow.
Q7. Is there negative marking in the written exams?
A7. Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.2 marks for each wrong answer in both the Preliminary and Main (Paper-II) examinations.
Q8. What are the physical standards for female candidates?
A8. The minimum height for all female candidates is 155 cm, and the minimum weight is 48 Kg. There is no chest measurement for females.
Q9. Can a candidate fill more than one application form?
A9. No. A candidate can submit only one application. Submitting more than one application will lead to the cancellation of all applications.
Q10. How will the admit card be issued?
A10. The admit card for the written examination will be available for download from the official website https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in. Candidates will also receive an SMS/Email alert.
Q11. What if I make a mistake in the online application?
A11. Before final payment, you can edit details. After payment, you can use the “Cancel Registration” option to cancel the erroneous form and apply again, but the fee paid for the first form will not be refunded.
Q12. Are serving Bihar government employees eligible for age relaxation?
A12. Yes, serving Bihar government employees with a minimum of 3 years of regular service are eligible for an age relaxation of 5 years in the upper age limit.
Q13. Is the General Hindi paper in the Main exam qualifying?
A13. Yes, Paper-I (General Hindi) is qualifying in nature. Candidates must score at least 30% marks (30 out of 100) to clear it. Its marks are not added to the merit list.
Q14. What documents are required during the application process?
A14. You need scanned copies of your photograph, signature, and details from your educational certificates (especially matric certificate for date of birth). Original documents will be required during the document verification stage.
